Whether you want to improve your walking speed, the distance you can ride your bike, or how many cups of water you drink in a day, it starts with practice, creating habits, and staying consistent. Improving your core strength requires the same approach. You cannot hold a 3 hour plank exercise (the Guinness World record for planking) without starting slow building on it.

Take it from me. I suffered a major back injury in 2011. It was debilitating, depressing and scary. I thought the course of my life was changed forever. What I learned through my research and education was that my injury was a result of several repetitive strenuous movement patterns I had done most of my life, in conjunction with weak core and back muscles. This injury hit at a time when I would have considered myself the strongest I had ever been. I could do 100’s of sit-ups, bike all over town and pitch 7 innings of softball without a problem. Or, so I thought.

That is until my body forced me to slow down and re-evaluate. The truth is, doing too much of a good thing is just as bad as doing too much of anything. Copious amounts of crunches and sit-ups with weights and medicine balls was not what my body needed. The result, a breakdown that cost me over 2 years of life struggling with pain and discomfort.

My Story

I have studied kinesiology and specifically, core rehabilitation since 2014. After suffering my own back injury I was on a mission to determine why I got injured and what could be done to self correct. In healing from injury what I learned is that there is more to the core then what can be seen on the cover of an Oxygen or Shape magazine.

What I learned was that crunches, sit-ups and other extremely taxing abdominal exercises were not the key to a strong core. I also learned that core strength comes from focusing on the hips, back, legs, and abdomen. This was eye opening and it’s what led me to certifying as a Core Confidence Specialist in 2017.

I created this video series because I want to help others achieve the same result as I have from making some very basic exercises a part of my daily routines. With as little as 15 minutes a day you can reclaim your core confidence just as I have.

In my 12 years of health coaching, I have helped hundreds of men and women gain strength, rehab from injury, lose weight, feel better in their bodies, gain confidence, improve self-esteem, and make better choices around their nutrition, health and overall well-being.
